Hear For You has a group of inspirational guest speakers who use cochlear implants / hearing aids and come from very different backgrounds. They provide the Hear For You participants with insights into their own personal experiences in the hearing world as well as future networking opportunities.
The speakers include Jennie Brand-Miller (Professor of Human Nutrition), Dave Carter (Animator), Holly McDonell (Lawyer), James Kelly (Doctor), Heather Cook (university student - Sport & Recreation) and Daniel O’Halloran (Financial Controller).
We also invite guest speakers who are hearing, such as a mentor’s husband or friend or work colleague, to share their experience and perception of having a relationship with a deaf person. This is particularly useful for the teenagers and their parents as it gives them an insight into this later stage and they can gain reassurance about future relationships.
