Anna McNab
Anna McNab is 25 and lives in Christchurch. She is currently working as a Chartered Accountant for BDO. She has a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Canterbury University.
Anna was first selected for Canterbury Athletics at the age of 9 and has represented Canterbury every year since. She has Canterbury titles in shot put, discus, hammer throw, track-walk, and relays. She has competed nationally since she was 13 and has received silver and bronze medals in the discus, hammer and track-walk. She also coaches athletics. At the moment, she is coaching Parafed athletes for the 2010/11 athletics season.
Anna has had a hearing loss in both ears since she was born and was fitted with a cochlear implant in 2008 and wears a hearing aid in the other ear.
Growing up, Anna didn't have any hearing impaired role models so she felt like she was walking into the unknown in all aspects of life. Now that she is older, she can't wait to pass on her experiences to help the next generation of hearing impaired and deaf teens so there aren't too many unknowns!
