Joshua Foreman
Joshua Foreman is 19 and lives in Auckland. He is currently studying at Auckland University, doing a Bachelor of Physical Education as he wants to become a secondary school teacher in P.E.
In 2010, Josh was a representative in the 110m hurdles at the North Island athletics championships. He also played wing for the King’s College 2nd XV. He was appointed as Head of House for boarding house Parnell, which meant he was also a School Prefect.
Josh has had a hearing loss since birth and was fitted with a cochlear implant when he was two. He received a second implant at the age of 12. Josh loves sports, including Martial Arts, Tennis, Running, Swimming and Athletics.
Josh has a huge desire to inspire the teenagers who join the Hear For You program to do their absolute best. He has always believed that all deaf people are capable of achieving many great feats despite having a hearing loss. He wishes to set an example that this is possible with pure determination and positive attitude. He also wants to 'be there' for teenagers, listen to them and help them in every way he possibly can. His motto is "Strive to be the best you can be! Kia Kaha!”
