Sam Taylor
Sam Taylor is 25 and lives in Dunedin. He is currently a 5th year medical student in Dunedin and has a physics degree. He is the first student with a cochlear implant to begin studies at the University of Otago Medical School and is also the first New Zealander to receive the Graeme Clark Scholarship for Australia and New Zealand.
Sam has had a progressive hearing loss since birth and received a cochlear implant when he was 11. Until then he wore a hearing aid in one ear.
When Sam stops to think about the old days, he can usually recall a time where he regrets not doing something, or at least having a crack at it. This is why he is really excited at the opportunity to be a part of Hear For You's fantastic mentoring program, as he is now an "old boy" with plenty of wisdom to pass around. No regrets!!
